Bronwyn's Cookie

She's here! And she's even more beautiful than I could have imagined.

My very favorite part of newborn sessions is always the interaction between mother & child; the conversations, the soothing caresses, the intimacy. It's like music to the eye... it's fascinating and fantastically moving.

Prince Marcus, home at last!

The best part of my session with Marcus and his parents was that it kind of felt like the celebration of a new beginning. Marcus spent the first couple of months of his life in hospital, but is now doing great and has finally come home with mom and dad.

Now I'm not one to play favorites, but...

James stole my heart. He didn't even ask; he just came in here with his big chestnut eyes and his sly moves, took it, and flashed me a big toothy grin.

I just spent over an hour going through this photoshoot and it's late, but I am smiling from ear to ear and my heart is just about busting. I think that's what makes my work special; I feel it, and I love it. And when I work on my photographs, I look at them like I would if I was the parent, and if I'm overjoyed, I know I've done my job.

Honestly. If babies like James came mail-order, I'd already have two with another in the mail!

Blog, blog, blogging away!

I've been blogging all day. Literally! I'm just about caught up. But it's not over quite yet... Now it's time for the Matthew show!

I met Matthew a while back with his parents in tow.

He had the coolest crawl in town, and the sliest, cool-guy look....

...that is until he got a good cuddle!

Here's one of those "flying-baby" shots I've been doing a little, lately... I'm not 100% sure they're "me", and I always hesitate to do them, because the black background thing is a little conventional, and it's been done to death. But these shots are precious, aren't they? When I get a baby with some good "moves", this context can be quite creative and fun.

That's that! More to come! It's a baby parade this week on the blog, stay tuned!

Siblings

I'm not going to sit here and claim that sibling sessions with kids 5 and under are easy. They're sooo not easy I usually plan a nap no more than ten minutes after they're through. But you know what they are? They're worth it. Every single time. They're always special, and unique, and full of personality.

If all that energy and running around turns into memories and moments that siblings get to carry with them into their adult years, it's well worth the price of a scheduled nap!

Here's a storyboard I put together to showcase the sisterhood of Sadie & Avery, two very sweet princesses I met not long ago. Enjoy, Erin!

Absolutely Glowing

I have to admit, I have a weakness for redheads. (If I didn't have my brunette hunk, I'd be with a redhead and I'd have a slew of little redheaded dolls!) So when Alison came in for her maternity session, I was delighted!

Alison & Brian are expecting their first child, and I can't wait to meet this little cookie! I know, I know... I say this every time. But I say it because I mean it. Honest! Being able to share the happiness of budding families is fantastically addictive.

Here are a few of my faves from this session.

Meet me at The Perk!

As some of you already know, my work has been on display at The Riverdale Perk this month. The Perk is a trendy and clever little independent coffee (and delicious snack) joint three doors down from my studio.

I'll be having a "closing" instead of an opening, on Saturday March 31st. I'll be there from 4-6pm, and will be happy to chat with anyone that would like to drop in for a visit that day. So if you've been considering a booking and have a few questions, or just live nearby and would like to meet, come down to the Perk, and let's chat!

Don't forget to bring the kids!

To drool, or not to drool?

I had a shoot with Ryan a while back, and he gave me this shot:

Now that, to me, is gold. Be it because it's just downright cute, or perfect blackmail material for when he turns eighteen and thinks he knows everything! I showed it to a few friends today, and it seems to be a 50/50 split down the middle. The non-parents think it's icky, and the parents think it's adorable. Me? I couldn't resist it, so it deserves a spot on the blog!

I may be one of the only photographers around that goes "Wait-wait-wait!!" when mom dives in with a kleenex to fix this!

But for those of you I've "icked-out", here are a few non-droolers!

Watching Sam Grow

I had my second shoot with Samantha not long ago. The first was back when she was three months old... and look how she's grown!

I had a slew of great portraits of Samantha, but my favorite thing with her is the straight headshot because of her quirky little eyebrows; they make her so expressive, she can give me 5 different smiles in the span of three seconds! Here's a little montage showcasing the colors of Samantha. I'm already looking forward to our next session!

Jolie Princesse

The only thing prettier than Lilja's name is Lilja herself! I met this little princess not long ago and had a lovely time photographing her with her mum & dad. Here are a few of my favorite portraits from that session...

For the Love of Wanda

I'm killing Wanda. But I didn't mean to, I promise.

Wanda came to me last year to photograph her wild and beautiful four year old son. At the time, I had just begun to gain popularity, and business was just beginning to grow. I had all this time to spoil my clients... I got to sit down after every session and post a blog entry with teasers of their sessions.

A few months have gone by, and things have gotten pretty busy around here. I had a session with Wanda, Jacob and her brand new twin pumpkins a week ago, and haven't had a chance to post anything on here about them yet.

Now it looks like I'm not the only one paying the price of success, because not only am I missing out on the early excitement of the reactions to the "sneak peeks"... now my loyal clients are dying of anxiety!

There is hope! I know I've been going on and on about the moving, and how I'd fallen behind and was working on catching up... but I mean it. I am days away from a system that will have me working as effectively as I was back when I only had a few sessions here and there.

But for now, I'm bumping Wanda ahead of the line. I think she deserves it; I mean, look at those sweet little cookies! They were enough to send me home with a serious case of the clock-ticking!

Enjoy, Wanda!

Little Bee-bop Joshua

I loooooooooove the itty-bitty ones! And Joshua was one of them. New to the world and to very proud and very happy parents Karen & Deric, this little bunch made for a perfect little subject. Here are a couple of my favorite portraits from this session.

March Break Special

I've got 4 openings during the week of March 13th-15th between 11am to 4pm, and I'm handing them out with a $50.00 discount!

First come, first served!

Drool Meister

Usually when I get babies who have their teeth coming in, I struggle to make sure that I get them in at least a few shots. But not with Kyra's little darling! I got an endless number of great drooley smirks and smiles. I chose a few of the sweet ones to share with you today.

Ruby Thursday

Last week I met Ruby, and I, was, smitten. Two year olds are cute to begin with. But Ruby, with those eyes and that quirky imaginative personality was an absolute gem. She was the kind of little girl that makes me want to have five, with the kind of spirit I wish I could bottle. Here are a few of my favorites from this session.

Struttin' my Stuff @ The Perk!

Due to a serious addiction to sweets and too many hours sitting at a computer, it's not my "stuff-stuff" I'll be struttin' this month at The Perk; it'll be my work!

So if you're in the mood for good coffee, dangerously delicious desserts or a nice brunch, stop by The Riverdale Perk this March and you'll also get an eyeful of beautiful children and great photography.

I'll be having a "closing night" later this month, so if you'd like to have a chat with me, that would be a swell time to do it! Stay tuned and I'll announce the date as soon as it's written in stone.

Pretty Mamma

I had a great time photographing Michelle & Chris. They're expecting their first little one, and they're so thrilled. I can't imagine I'll ever get enough of the energy that comes with an expecting couple; it's the kind of happiness that's really comparable to none, and I always feel so lucky to be able to celebrate it with all of these new families-to-be.

Here is a peek at Michelle & Chris's shoot... can you feel that? That's love.

Shy, schmy!

When Carolin contacted me about having her little cookie photographed, I was warned that Victoria was a very shy little girl. So much so that the last photography session attempt had failed!

I gladly took on the challenge and prepared myself for it. I set an afternoon aside in case Victoria had to spend a little more time than the usual to warm up to a new environment with a stranger photographing her in it.

The last thing I expected was for this little firecracker to come out of her shell as quickly and vividly as she did! Here are a few peeks at this session.
